JOHN RYAN In Memory
John Ryan is a Managing Partner with Ryan & Janowsky Financial Strategies Group in Jericho, New York. He is Certified in Long Term Care Insurance and has been in the financial services industry for over 35 years. John received his Associate Degree in Business Administration from SUNY Farmingdale and studied for both his Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees in Economics and Finance from St. John’s University. He received his Master’s Degree in Gerontology and a post-master’s Thanatology certification from the College of New Rochelle. John completed his NYS Article 81 Guardianship training at The Brookdale Center for Healthy Aging and Longevity at Hunter College. He has received the prestigious “New York State Office for the Aging Award” in recognition of his financial and estate planning work, as well as his grief counseling work with seniors and their families. John is a Reiki Master, Chakra Therapist and a Clinical Hypnotherapist. He is a past Member of the Board and grief support group facilitator for Heartbridge Center for Loss and Transition in Manhattan. John was trained in the “holistic approach” to hospice volunteerism at The Landsberg Comprehensive Community Hospice at Parker Jewish Institute, where he was also a past Associate Board Member. In Great Neck, where John resides with his wife Stephanie, he is the past President of The Rotary Club of Great Neck and past Deputy Governor and past Assistant Governor of Rotary District 7255 and recipient of multiple Paul Harris Awards. He is also past President of the Friends of The Great Neck Parks Foundation and past Member of the Board of the Gold Coast Arts Center. John is currently the President of the Great Neck Social Center and President of CLASP (Children Learning After School Program). He serves on the Board of Directors of Long Island Family Caregivers Coalition, the Advisory Council to Literacy Nassau and is on the Speaker Selection Committee for the Gerontology Professionals of New York. John is a member of The Unitarian Universalist Congregation at Shelter Rock, where he also serves on the Social Justice Committee. John is also the Democratic Leader for the Town of North Hempstead. He is the co-founder of Project S.A.F.E. Long Island (Seniors Against Financial Exploitation) and is also the cohost of the PATV series by the same name with his partner Peter Janowsky. Each Friday, John hosts the Town of North Hempstead’s radio program series, “Project Independence and You”, on 88.1FM from 10:00AM to 12:00PM, which is dedicated to a variety of issues that affect the quality of life of our senior citizens and retirees.
Peter Janowsky
Peter Janowsky is the Managing Director at Ryan & Janowsky Financial Strategies Group in Jericho New York and specializes in retirement plans, endowment management and strategizing with seniors and their families. Peter studied to become a Retirement Planning – 401(k) Specialist while working with Morgan Stanley. With 27 years of experience in the financial services industry, Peter brings with him a unique set of qualifications. Peter is an Accredited Investment Fiduciary and is fully versed with all tax efficient programs for wealth accumulation for businesses, nonprofits and individuals such as Profit-Sharing plans, 401(k)'s, 403(b)'s, Defined Benefits, Simple IRA’s, SEP’s and annuities. Peter is a graduate of Empire State Labor College where he received his degree in Labor History. He was a Certified Peer Counselor for the New York City Central Labor Council and regularly volunteers his time to community service. He is also the past President of the Rotary Club of Great Neck and recipient of multiple Paul Harris Awards. In Great Neck he is the co-founder of The Great Neck Business Circle and member of the board of The Great Neck Social Center. Peter is also on the Advisory Board for the Community Needs Bank of the Sid Jacobson JCC in Greenvale. Peter has most recently founded LIPRA (Long Island Professional Resource Association) serving all of Long Island. Peter is the co-founder of Project S.A.F.E. and cohost of the PATV series by the same name as well as the show, “Financial Strategies for Seniors”. He was also the coach of both of his daughter’s softball teams during their high school years. The combination of his peer counseling and coaching skills are utilized with his client interactions daily. Peter’s retirement training and counselor / coach experience helps him bring the humanist side to holistic financial planning.
